The Winter Olympic town of Zhangshanying in Beijing's northwestern Yanqing district launched its ice and snow tourism season at the Yanqing International Grape Expo Garden on December 10.

Sports games of ski rings, ice ploughs and snow tanks are being made available for the pleasure of visitors in the garden. As one of the arenas of the coming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, Zhangshanying has witnessed a boom of ice and snow industry over the past six years and boasts such winter sports resources as the Vanke Shijinglong Ski Resort and Longqing Gorge scenic sport featuring ice lanterns and sculptures.

"We hope this year's ice and snow event could help raise the income for local people, encourage more people to engage in winter sports and better serve the 2022 Winter Olympic Games," said Hou Xiaoying, the head of Zhangshanying town.

Yaning also kicked off various themed activities during the tourism season, including winter Olympic torch relay, home stay of embracing and celebrating Spring Festival and ice and snow sports games designed for families.

The 2022 Winter Olympic Games will be held from February 4 to 20 in three competition zones: downtown Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou's Chongli district in Hebei province.
