Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region saw private businesses invest 4.78 billion yuan in fixed assets in the first quarter of this year, a rise of 50.9 percent on the same period of last year, according to the regional statistical bureau.

The amount made up for 47.5 percent of Ningxia's total fixed-assets investment in the three-month period.
