Pengyang County is located in the southern mountainous area of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and over the past decade has achieved a great deal in ecological civilization construction. Forest conservation areas in the county have exceeded 131,733 hectares, 50,400 hectares of which are land areas returned from farming to forestry.
