The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region takes part in the joint efforts to protect the Silk Road cultural heritage together with Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu Provinces and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to a joint agreement recently signed by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the abovementioned provinces.
The Silk Road is both a historically important trade route and a splendid cultural bridge that links China with European countries. It has been widely acknowledged that enhanced efforts should be made to protect the immense historical and cultural heritage along the route. The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has adopted effective measures in the workings since 2006 and has achieved great accomplishments thus far.
The joint agreement on Silk Road protection illustrates that rules on the content and principles of the detailed jobs will play a significant role in the application for world cultural heritage recognition.
