It was announced Thursday that 77,000 tourists visited Ningxia’s scenic spots during the May Day Holiday, setting a new record. The figure is 23 percent higher than previous May Day holiday periods and ticket revenues also saw a 24.82 percent increase, generating revenue totaling 25.8million yuan.
Ningxia’s three 5A National Attractions proved the main draw for tourists, with Shahu welcoming 84,000 tourists, making it the most visited destination in Ningxia over the May Day holiday. Close behind was Shapotou Tourist Region, which received 69,000 visitors and Zhenbeibao Studio City of West China, with 67,000. Some 4A Attractions, such as Shuidonggou, Liupan Mountain and Huangshagudu Tourist Region also attracted many tourists. Yuehai Theme Park also created history, as it welcomed 47,000 tourists in three days.
The holiday also saw an increasing number of tourists choosing self-driving travel, as well as the rising popularity of agritourism. Star-graded agritourism inns received 78,000 tourists, generating profits of more than 4.5 million yuan.
