Ningxia’s tourism industry possesses clear advantages and has the potential to a leap forward in development, said Shao Qiwei, administer of State Tourism Administration at a conference in Ningxia on April 26.

The Ningxia tourism can be developed into a comprehensive industry that blends agriculture, industry, transport, culture, information and other industries, Shao suggested. “The poverty-stricken area could develop rural tourism, and tourism souvenir manufacturing could also be implemented,” Shao said. “A series of industrial tourism products could display Ningxia’s first-class sand control and coal waste utilization science technology.” Infrastructure, including consultation centers, indicator system and toilets, and putting forward a well-designed tourist route and art performances could enhance Ningxia’s tourist appeal, he added.

Shao also emphasized the significance catering to the Muslim market.

He also promised that the State Tourism Administration will continue to support Ningxia tourism development financially and technically, and help promote Ningxia tourism routes to make Ningxia a distinctive international tourist destination.
