Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, the Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area covers 60,000 hectares among the parts of Minshan Mountains located in Songpan county, Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture in northwestern Sichuan. It is made up of snow-capped peaks rising from a base of up to 5,588 meters, the easternmost of Chinese glaciers, rich forest biodiversity, and sensational travertine and limestone formations, as well as waterfalls and hot springs.
