Chinese-style lanterns produced in Zigong city in Sichuan are on display at the Grand Place in Brussels, Belgium from Feb. 22 to 28, in celebration of Chinese Lunar New Year.

With the theme of Light the Heart of Europe, the Chinese lantern exhibition comprises part of the EU-China Tourism Year campaign, organized by Sichuan government together with European Commission, European Union Parliament, Mission of People’s Republic of China to the European Union, Chinese Embassy in Belgium, and Brussels government.

As a national intangible cultural heritage, Zigong lantern show has been introduced to 60 countries and regions since late 1980s, gaining popularity worldwide. For the Lunar New Year celebrations in 2018, Zigong lanterns have been displayed in a number of international locations including Copenhagen, Singapore, and Los Angeles.
