Chengdu embraces spring with crabapple flower festival

The 15th crabapple flower festival was kicked off in early February in Shuangliu district of Chengdu and will run for a month till March 11.

Organized by the district’s administration of public parks, the event takes place at Tanghu Park and Fengxianghu Park this year, with more than 10,000 crabapple plants of dozens of varieties in blossom.

Some 300 potted plants made of crabapple, gingko and Diospyros cathayensis are also on display.

 

The Tanghu Park also arranged calligraphy and painting exhibition and orchid trade show.

Crabapples are native to the temperate zone in Northern Hemisphere, popularly used as ornamental plants for their plentiful blossoms.
