Touted as the nearest glacier scenery to an urban area, the Dagu Glacier scenic area is another boutique tourist site developed after Jiuzhai Valley and Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area in Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture.

About 280 kilometers from either Chengdu or Jiuzhai Valley, Dagu not only comprises the youngest glacier system ever found at the lowest elevation, now as the spring arrives, it also provides colorful foliage of virgin forests and alpine meadows, and better chances to encounter wild animals such as the rare species of Tibetan macaque and golden snub-nosed monkey between snowcapped peaks.
