Not only boasting the famous scenic retreat Mount Emei, Emeishan city in Sichuan also developed a charming culinary culture over the years.

And most of the delicious food choices with distinct local flavors, from tofu jelly, to Sichuan style dumpling, to pot-stewed duck, can be found at the mountain foot - at the Baoguo Temple scenic area or the Yizhen commercial complex near the Dafo Temple.

Evolving from temple food, Mount Emei’s vegetarian meals are both healthy and delicious, offering rich nutrients while creating aromas and flavors similar to meat dishes.

Home to an enormous plant kingdom, the mountain provides a bountiful supply of edible wild herbs, which inspired the creation of a specialty hot pot, using free-range chicken broth as the soup base to boil freshly harvested herbs coming in a rich variety. Containing various trace elements, the herbs offer a wide range of health effects.
