One of the most ambient places at Mount Emei, Shengshui Temple offers delicious vegetarian dishes made of bean products, a staple item of traditional temple food, that can pass off as meat dishes with similar shapes and flavors.

Spicy ingredients such as chilli are used in the cooking, reflecting the influence of local Sichuan cuisine.

While at the temple, be aware that the quaint wooden structures are also worth enjoying.

One of the few nunneries at Mount Emei, Shengshui Temple underwent reconstruction during a ten years period starting from 1986. As part of the project, it incorporated the Da'e Temple which was built in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) with the original name Fushou Temple.
