The Dagu Glacier scenic area offers unique glacier landscape across a 50 square kilometers area in Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture in Sichuan.

Although still lesser known to international adventure lovers, the site has developed several hiking routes with varied levels of difficulty among the unspoiled natural environment.

One wooden plank road can be found among the sacred Luogesi Mountain, a pilgrimage site for Tibetan people. It is said to be a four to five hours journey that can be completed with comparative ease for those who are able to adapt to the heights of 3,000 meters above sea level.

Hiking along the route offers the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular sceneries of the mountain from changing angles. Hikers may expect sights of wetlands, snow-capped mountains, lush vegetation, and free-range yaks kept by local Tibetan roaming around.

More than 10 animal species under national protection, including takin and snob-nosed monkey, inhabit the area. But to be honest, chances are very rare for visitors to actually see one of the wild animals.

Under the influence of microclimates, the weather can change dramatically in rather short time and make for good materials for time-lapse photography.
