A Total of 50 disabled people will have a chance to visit Shenzhen's scenic spots accompanied by 150 volunteers as the Fifth Project Care is launched Tuesday.

There are three routes for them to know more about the city including route A from Lotus Hill Park to the Mangrove Nature Reserve; route B from the park to Shenzhen Concert Hall; and route C atop the park to view Shenzhen.

The activity will be one of the 670 activities organized during the three-month-long event, which will last until April. 8.

Other activities will include donating money to the needy, clearing off rubbish in public areas and providing free consultancy on medical care, laboor legislation and social insurance, according to a conference held yesterday.

"I can't walk due to polio as a child and have few chances to have a sightseeing, but this activity will enable me to make up this regret," said a man surnamed Shen, who works in a factory in Bao'an District.

The annual event is a major part of the city's effort in building a caring and harmonious society. A total of 100 million yuan (13.6 million U.S. dollars) of donations had been collected since the project was initiated in 2003.
