The opening ceremony of the Demonstration Base for Chemical and Rubber for Industrial Production, Education and Research was held on March 20 in Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong province.

Built through the coordinated efforts of the China Rubber Industry Association (CRIA), the People's Government of Sifang District in Qingdao, Qingdao University of Science and Technology and MESNAC Co. Ltd., the base is defined as a high-tech industry zone and some of the phase-I projects are nearing completion.

The base is the cooperation of the local government, institutes of higher education and research, enterprises along with agencies, which has been involved in the Shandong Peninsular Blue Economy Development Plan.
