The 2012 Qingdao beer festival will be held in the surrounding areas of Qingdao International Beer City in Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong Province.

The original venue of the beer festival- Qingdao International Beer City- is being adapted.

The constructions of 11 office buildings, including that of a 160-meter tall high rise, are planned in the renovation project.

The 200,000-square meter surrounding areas including the Laoshan Century Square and the Crystal Palace of the Qingdao conference and exhibition centre will be the new site of this year's festival.

From May 1 to August, the Laoshan Century Square will host a performance every weekend preparing for the upcoming festival.

As China's biggest beer gala, the Qingdao beer festival starts on the first Saturday of every mid-August and runs for 16 days.
