Some twenty anonymous people have released more than 10,000 sciaenopes ocellati into the sea at the Jimiya Wharf in Jiaonan City.

They bought roughly 10,000 sciaenopes ocellati at a cost of 500 thousand yuan from a nearby fish farm, according to local fishermen. They, however, did not mention the purpose of their deeds.

After releasing the fish into the sea, hundreds of local residents went there to fish. One angler said he had caught a sciaenops ocellatus with a weight of 1.5 kilograms.

A lot of people release the fish into sea every year, but to release so many in one go is relatively rare, according to a local resident.
