A Civil Servant Blood Donation Day has been set up in Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong province, to address a shortage of blood.

The municipal government plans to make the first Tuesday in January, February, July and August as blood donation days for city-level civil servants.

College students and the general public currently make up the majority of donors in the city.
