The tenth National Youth Violin Contest, organized by the Ministry of Culture, closed in Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong province, on Oct. 27.

Wang Wendi, from middle school of the Central Conservatory of Music walked away with the first place in the Teenage Group. But the third place for that group - as well as the first, fifth and sixth places in the "Youth Group" were left vacant.

Judges said this contest emphasizes contestants' imagination and individuality, rather than focusing strictly on technique.
