A new blue book entitled “Qingdao Cultural Innovation Industry Development Report in 2012” was issued at the Qingdao International News Center, according to a relevant news briefing on January 28.

Centering on the new trends of the cultural innovation industry, the blue book illustrates the experiences of combining scientific technology with the cultural industry and the creation of the brand of Musical Island in Qingdao.

The added value of the cultural innovation industry in Qingdao totaled 60 billion yuan (US$ 9.64 billion) in 2012, the volume of which ranked fourth in the nation, said Jiang Zhengxuan, the president of the Qingdao Cultural Innovation Industry Association. Currently, there are 26 cultural industrial parks in Qingdao; the total area of all the parks is expected to reach 10 million square meters in 2016, Jiang added.
