Qingdao City's Licang District government has announced a new project titled Green City Culture and Creative Square with an investment of 840 million yuan to support next year's international horticultural exposition. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014.

A manmade lake, a centerpiece of the square, will cover 25 thousand square meters.

Paying homage to New York City's Central Park, the project will combine a bustling urban environment with a natural setting. 53 thousand square meters of greenery will include roughly 6000 tress and 28 thousand square meters of foliage.
