Bayer Material Science (BMS) exemplary energy-saving building in Qingdao, Shandong Province was granted gold certification by the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) recently. This sustainable building was put into use last October as a BMS office building at a factory in Qingdao.

The building occupies an area of 1,163 square kilometers, containing 60 offices and workshops, and is equipped with its eco-commercial building partner Kyocera’s 66kw photovoltaic panels, capable of producing 80.35mw of power every year. Inside the building, with its partner Uponor’s structural heating and cooling system, the building’s enclosing structure and heat source pumping system, it is capable of optimized energy usage, making the interior temperature comfortable throughout the year.

As a model of high-efficiency and low-cost energy-conserving buildings, the building has set up a successful green building model that will be a standard for the Chinese building industry. The Bayer eco-commercial building program has finished other outstanding buildings all over the world, including a zero-energy office building in India, energy-saving offices in Belgium, a zero-energy conference center in America and a German zero-energy nursery.

Bayer Material Science is one of the world's largest polymer companies, and the business is mainly focused on the manufacture of high-tech polymer materials and the development of innovative solutions in many fields of daily life.
