The Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition will be held from April to October, 2014, with the theme "From the Earth, for the Earth" and the standards "Ecology and environment-friendly." The three concepts at this Expo are "cultural originality, technological innovation and natural creation".

The Vanke Garden, with the theme "Angry Birds," advocates a green lifestyle and promotes interaction between visitors. The World Hiking Garden, aimed at "low carbon, green travelling," emphasizes outdoor characteristics.

The main construction on all exhibitors' venues is expected to be completed this September, heralding the trial operation in October this year.
