Recently, NASA publishes a series of images of night view of the earth. The area of lights in Qingdao extents a lot than before and is the largest in Shandong. Images are taken by satellites from space.

To reflect the development of the globe, NASA launched a plan called “Night Earth”. By using satellites to take pictures at night, they can analyze the development status of certain region and select the ideal spot to build ground space observatories.

The lighting areas of Shandong and Qingdao extend obviously which reflects the huge changes happening in this region in the past two years.

Based on the picture, the development of the western coast is very obvious. Comparing to two years before, this area has been connected to the urban area of Qingdao that forms the largest bright area in Shandong.

Since 2012, Qingdao Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government put more emphasis on the development of the western coast and aim at building another Qingdao in 5 to 10 years. The development will be reflected in the images every two years.
