In September of 2011, the main park of the Qingdao National University Science Park was officially launched and since then, the construction work has been well-underway, gaining the approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology and leaders at all levels.

Qingdao National University Science Park was initiated by Ocean University of China and co-built by Qingdao University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Qingdao Technological University and Qingdao Agricultural University. It was built under the instructions and requirements of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education, and constructed in the pattern of "One Park, Multiple Universities."

In 2010, 57 million RMB was invested in the park by the Qingdao High-tech Zone Investment and Development Group Co., Ltd., raising the registered capital to 88 million RMB. Qingdao National University Science Park Co., Ltd. was in charge of the building, developing, marketing and managing.

It’s said that by the end of November 2013, the first stage of the main park’s project will be completed. 50 to 100 enterprises will enter the park in 2014 and the construction of the whole park will be completed in 2015.
