The Qingdao Development Area will purchase a new batch of green buses using pure electricity and clean energy this year, beefing up its current number to over 400.
Your correspondent learned from several sources within the Municipal Utilities Sector of Qingdao Development Area, that green buses will account for more than half of the buses in this zone in 2013, well-ahead of its counterparts in other places across China.
All buses have been replaced with green buses in the Development Area since 2011, comprised of 40 CNG( compressed natural gas) buses, 110 LNG( liquefied natural gas) buses and 110 pure electric buses. Before that, the local public transport company had carried out the transformation from petrol-consuming buses to gas-consuming buses, realizing the reduction in carbon emission.
The State Grid has constructed the biggest new energy bus charging station in the world in the Xuejiadao Transport Hub of Qingdao Tunnel, and a new one on the blueprint at the planned bus station.
