Qingdao’s bid to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) as a creative city in the field of film has entered the home stretch as results will come out on October 31.

At this critical juncture, the municipal government started trial run of a film website (http://www.filmqingdao.com/). In its two months of trial operation, the website recorded a monthly average of six million page views and 530,000 unique visitors.

The website has received strong response from local citizens during its trial run, thus creating a favorable atmosphere for Qingdao’s bid.

The recent official launching of the film website again attracted enormous attention online from both home and abroad, as testified by the appearance of “Qingdao’s bid to join UCCN”on the lists of hot search keywords of Baidu and other search engines.

The website has achieved quick widespread influence due to its creative layout and wealth of various information. Its primary role is to release latest news about Qingdao’s film industry, publicize the government’s preferential policies, introduce film projects awaiting investment and exhibit excellent films.

Aiming to become a comprehensive, authoritative, unique, interactive and influential website, the new service is divided into ten sections and is expected to boost Qingdao’s image as an open, inclusive international city and become a golden window for the world to learn about the city’s film culture.
