Bumper autumn harvest in sight

Qingdao municipal government recently published a report on the growth of the city’s autumn grain crops this year.

According to the report, thanks to strong policy and technology support and suitable meteorological conditions, the city’s autumn crops grow quite well and a bumper harvest is already in sight.

The report also said that the yield is expected to be the best in years with the yield per unit area hitting a record high. It is estimated the average yield per mu will increase 13.7 percent over last year.

To be specific, Qingdao’s autumn crops acreage dropped by 144,000 mu, or 3.5 percent from last year to 391,800 mu in 2017; the average yield per mu is expected to reach 508.9 kilograms, up 61.4 kilograms or 13.7 percent from last year; the total yield is expected to reach 1.99 million tons, up 176,000 tons, or 9.7 percent from last year.
