After achieving the City of Film title bestowed by the UNESCO, Qingdao is now well on track to expand its filmmaking industry, attracting movie productions of 5 billion yuan investment to land in the city in 2018.

The heavy-weight productions to be shot in Qingdao next year will include an adaption of The Investiture of the Gods, a classic fantasy novel from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

At the forefront of the city’s filmmaking industry, the Lingshan Bay Film and Television Culture Industry Area will add 10 world-class soundstages in near future to meet the increasing demands.

The city will host three movie festivals in the coming year, boosting its standing in the industry.

By entering the UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network as a City of Film, Qingdao gained access to the creative resources from other members of the network that covers 180 cities across the globe through regular exchange activities.
