Brand products contribute to agricultural economy

The brand value of Laoshan tea is estimated to be at 970 million yuan in China's common tea brand evaluation for 2017.

 

Dazeshan grape and Majiagou celery ranked among regional brands of geographical indication with estimated values of 1.28 billion yuan and 720 million yuan respectively.

 

These marked the latest achievements in the development of agricultural brands in Qingdao.

 

As of late, 19,000 agricultural and related brands have registered in the city, including 12 nationally famous brands, and 51 Protected Geographical Indication Products of China. Branded products accounted for 40 percent of the total agricultural economy.

 

In the coming years, the local government plans to improve brand awareness of various types of agricultural businesses including leading enterprises, cooperatives, family farms and skilled, professional farmers. They will also improve marketing strategies and lead the upgrading of agriculture industry with brand building.

 

A directory of well-known agricultural brands will be compiled and 100 brands will be the first to be listed.
