Qingdao government meeting points to future development direction

Local government officials of Qingdao met to review the achievements in the city's development on Dec. 7. Prior to the meeting, the attendees examined 177 important development projects across the city from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3.

 

Zhang Jiangting, Party secretary of Qingdao, stressed the importance of innovation in future development, while giving a speech at the meeting, which was watched via video conferencing at various districts and development zones of Qingdao.

 

Zhang said that with innovation being the locomotive of future development, the city should add more vitality by allocating and utilizing resources effectively and develop its unique identity by preserving its cultural heritage while blending new elements with local distinction.

 

Zhang also promoted sustainable ways of production and healthy lifestyles. Ecological environment was seen as a strategic resource and competitive power in future development.

 

Zhang also emphasized that the imbalance of development should be tackled. And Qingdao should maintain its leading role in economic development in the province while strive to be a nationally important city in China and a famous coastal city across the globe.

 

Zhang pointed to industrial upgrading, deepening of reforms, opening wider to the outside world and people-oriented development as the key to realize these goals.

 

Meng Fanli, mayor of Qingdao, said that the whole city should pull together to fully implement the decisions for future development in the city that were made at the meeting.
