Darts, dancers and drinks

Proffering a batting cage, basketball court and simulated golf and archery, Goose 'n' Duck has earned its wings as Beijing's highest-flying sports bar.

The 3,000-sq-m, 24-hour establishment also features a PlayStation racing simulator offering five different games, a shuffleboard, 11 dartboards, three pool tables, three foosball tables and a pinball machine. All games are free to play with at least a drink purchase, aside from the two electronic dartboards and the pinball machine, which cost a kuai a round.

Goose 'n' Duck patrons of a less-competitive feather can instead go gaga over the rah-rah brought by the Chinese Basketball Association cheerleaders. But only for a moment do they borrow the spotlight from a multitude of house bands that stage regular shows.

Mondays and Tuesdays feature classic rock performances; on Wednesdays and Thursdays, jazz and blues outfit KC takes the stage; Fridays and Saturdays feature Filipino and Australian classic rock combo Ground 1; and Chinese classic rock group Toy plays on Sundays.

And, of course, the establishment also offers all of the basic sports bar staples - a dozen plasma screens showing matches, strings of team flags and a cornucopia of American pub grub.
