The NBA has not only brought its brand of high powered basketball game to China, but also the culture associated with it. One example is the cheerleading girls who perform on court during time-outs.

In Beijing a nationwide competition for basketball cheerleading is taking place. 20 teams have emerged victorious in the semifinals held in Xi'an and Guangzhou. The final will be held Thursday evening. The top six performers will go to the United States to be trained by professional cheerleading coaches of the NBA.
