Wenchuan, the epicenter of last year's devastating May the 12th earthquake, has since been the country's focus of attention. A charity activity has been launched this week by children from ten different cities. They are to design winter clothes for the children of Wenchuan in Sichuan Province.

The event began at a Beijing shopping mall. After a brief ceremony, more than thirty of the city's elementary school students began to produce their designs on the spot. Most of the designs transmit messages of peace, friendship and care.

During the first day of the event, organizers collected a total of fifty draft designs. They said that they will try to broaden the scale of the activity so that every child in Wenchuan can get a new clothes.

The activity will also go to nine other cities including Dalian, Lanzhou, and Nanjing. The finished clothes will be taken to Wenchuan early next year to ensure every child can dress in their holiday best for February's Spring Festival.
