A show of Xinjiang song and dance has opened in Sydney, Australia. "Splendor of Xinjiang" attracted over five hundred local celebrities.
All the performers belong to ethnic minorities in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The purpose of the show is to facilitate understanding between China and Australia, and to promote Xinjiang to a wider public.
Shao Qun, Secretary General, NGO for China Reunification, said, "The gala opens a window to know the lifestyle and culture of Xinjiang. It's highly helpful to know the region. "
After its debut in Sydney, the show will next head to Australian capital Canberra and Brisbane.
