China's meteorological bureau has warned that a sharp cold front will continue to bring strong winds and falling temperatures across most of eastern and central China. Elsewhere, heavy fog has hit Sichuan Province again, leading to the closure of Shuangliu International Airport.

The cold weather saw temperatures in Shaanxi Province's capital city, Xi'an, plummet to minus 4 degrees Celsius. The temperature in the northern part of the province is expected to drop to minus 24 degrees.

The continuing low temperature has frozen nearly one thousand square meters of Jiao Zhou Bay. The ice is 10 to 30 centimeters thick. A large number of cargo ships can not reach the bay. Local fishermen are suffering heavy losses and local authorities have launched an emergency plan to help them crack the ice and move their boats.

Beijing was hit by strong winds on Thursday night. The city's Civil Affairs Bureau helped homeless people find shelter at relief stations or sent them food and clothes.

Sichuan province is struggling with fog and plummeting temperatures. The thickest fog of the winter hit the province again on Friday.

Visibility is less than 100 meters in 10 cities, including the provincial capital Chengdu. Six expressways have been closed. The Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu was closed again after Thursday's nine-hour closure. 120 flights were delayed and nearly 10,000 passengers stranded.
