On the eve of Valentine's Day in the romantic Italian city of Verona, three young women have received a prize for the best love letters sent in 2010.

The "Dear Juliet" prize was created 19 years ago by the Juliet Club to reward the thousands of people who write to Juliet with their stories of love.

This year's winners are from Britain, the US and Italy. The prize recognizes the spontaneity of the writers who turn to Juliet to express their feelings, ask for advice or simply feel closer to this universal symbol of eternal love.

The Juliet Club is an organization that promotes the legend of Romeo and Juliet and the image of Verona, where Shakespeare's play is set. Each year it receives more than six-thousand letters and 20-thousand cards from across the world.
