The Red Guards was a village-level branch of the Communist Party in Pengjia village in the Honghu Lake area of Hubei Province. In the summer of 1930, the members of the Red Guards organized a strategic withdrawal. A landlord of Pengjia village named Peng Batian and the troops of Kuomintang took advantage and attacked the area. Led by Han Ying and Liu Chuang, the Red Guards saw through the enemies' trick of a pretended withdraw. But Han Ying was arrested for rescuing the villagers. With the main force of the Red Army's assistance, Han Ying was saved, and finally the Red Guards gave the enemies a heave blow.
