China has stressed the importance it attaches to relations with the Arab world in a meeting between the Director General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs, of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Chen Xiaodong, and the head of the Arab League.

Chen Xiaodong said, "During the meeting with His Excellency Nabil El-araby, the secretary general of the Arab League, we exchanged views on China-Arab relations and common issues of concern. China attaches great importance to Mr El-araby’s trip to China in the near future. Both sides are working hard to guarantee the success of this visit. By the end of May, the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of China-Arab countries cooperation forum will be held in Tunisia. This meeting is very important under new circumstances. Both China and the Arab League are making preparations for this meeting and have high expectations. This meeting has great significance in promoting China-Arab cooperation in the next stage."
