President Hu Jintao mourns Sihanouk

President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao have attended a farewell ceremony for Cambodia's King-Father Norodom Sihanouk. They expressed condolences to the Cambodian Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen.

President Hu Jintao went to the Beijing Hospital to attend the farewell ceremony, and expressed his condolences to Queen Mother Norodom Sihanouk, King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Hu Jintao said Sihanouk was a brilliant leader, and his death is a huge loss to Cambodia. China is deeply saddened to lose a great friend. He said the King-Father will always live in the hearts of the Chinese and Cambodian people. His outstanding contributions to the development of friendship between the two countries will go down in history and motivate the two countries to write a new chapter in friendship.

The Cambodian royal family and Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed heart-felt gratitude for China's long efforts in taking care of Sihanouk. They said Sihanouk pursued a long-term friendly policy towards China and made China his second home. Cambodia will carry out the King-Father's wish to continue promoting Sino-Cambodian friendship and cooperation.

President Hu Jintao paid silent tribute in front of the King-Father's remains and bowed three times. He expressed sincere sympathy to the royal family and senior Cambodian officials.

Premier Wen Jiabao and State Councillor Dai Bingguo also attended the farewell ceremony and expressed condolences to the Queen-Mother, the King and the Prime Minister.
