Some officials attending Davos forum say that as China assumes leadership in the global economy, the country should be more open with the international community. But Chinese officials responded that China is already involved in finding solutions to the world’s problems, and will increase that involvement.
Lawrence Summers, former US Treasury Secretary, said, "I think China will have a major role as a role model for other developing societies. China has achieved convergence in a way that has not been achieved historically, far more rapidly, and that has to be something that is enormously influential. "
Zhang Xiaoqiang, Vice-Chairman of National Development & Reform Commission, said, "China has already taken a lot of efforts in many global challenges, such as dealing with international financial crisis, climate change, food security, and we will continue to play an important role with other developing countries."
