The leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un has called his country's successful rocket launch "a historic event".
Speaking at a closing ceremony of a party meeting in Pyongyang, he called the internationally condemned launch a "crushing blow to hostile forces". The fourth meeting of the Secretaries of Cells of the Workers’ Party of Korea concluded on Wednesday.

In his speech, Kim also urged the officials to conduct a radical strengthening of the work of party branches. He described the meeting as a milestone in strengthening the party’s capability and creating a prosperous country.
The three-day meeting was attended by around 10 thousand officials from across the country. Kim Jong-un is the first top leader to attend and address the meeting.
