The Boao Forum for Asia has wrapped up in the southern island province of Hainan. As usual, there was a heavy-duty line-up of powerful and influential figures at the annual forum. The forum attracted seven presidents, and three prime ministers, in addition to several economic and financial heavyweights. CCTV reporter Wu Haojun takes a look back at what the closing day had on offer for its attendants.

President Xi Jinping taking notes... at a meeting with Chinese and foreign business leaders... and listening intently to what they had to say about the global economy and doing business in and with China.

Zein Abdalla, President of Pepsico, said, "The better we understand the policy directions and the political decision-making in China, the better we can plan, to commit resources and continue to build a successful business that contributes to China's ongoing success."

Xi Jinping called on representatives of 30 of the biggest enterprises operating in China to help reform economic structures to maintain growth.

And he gave a little pep talk to lift spirits amid a struggling global economy.

Xi Jinping, Chinese President, said, "Through our efforts, it is possible for China to sustain a fairly high speed of economic growth. A very high speed of growth we will not sustain. We don't want to and we can not. But a fairly high speed of growth can be sustained."

In Boao, President Xi Jinping also met with Xiao Wanchang, the leader of Taiwan's delegation to the Forum, and former head of Taiwan's executive council. The meeting was Xi Jinping's first with a leading figure from the Taiwan region. Xi Jinping called on compatriots from both sides of the strait to work hard towards realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. He also called for closer economic cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

On Monday, President Xi Jinping also met with President of the United Nations General Assembly Vuk Jermic and International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde.

It was Xi Jinping's first attendance at the Boao Forum for Asia since becoming China's president last month .. where there's no shortage of media spotlight... and leaders in various fields from countries and regions across the globe.

The head of states and governments, top business leaders.. and even religious dignitaries were here... to discuss pressing global issues.

Unlike the average "government to government" summits, the Boao Forum prides itself as a platform of exchange between civil society, businesses and academics ... where conversations go both ways... and frank discussions flow on the dinner table.

Initiated by China in 2001, the Boao Forum has gradually become a truly global, not just Asian event, as the emerging nations see their economies blossom.
