DPRK sends envoy to China

Wang Jiarui, the director of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has met with visiting DPRK special envoy Choe Ryong Hae in Beijing.

Choe, director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army is being accompanied by a political and military delegation. It is the first time a DPRK envoy has visited China since Kim Jong-un took power after the death of his father Kim Jong Il in December 2011. In April 2012 Choe was promoted to Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army.

He also holds other posts, including member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Workers' Party of Korea, and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party.
