Taipei City Zoo has released a video showing the touching moment when a female giant panda was reunited with her cub after a month's separation. The video shows the mother, Yuan Yuan, picking up her cub and holding her close.

Photo taken on Aug. 8, 2013 shows a giant panda cub nicknamed "Yuan Zai" at the Taipei Zoo in Taipei, southeast China's Taiwan. The cub, born on July 6, is the first baby of a pair of giant pandas, namely "Tuan Tuan" and "Yuan Yuan", who were given as a goodwill gift to Taiwan by the Chinese mainland. [Xinhua]

Yuan Yuan together with another giant panda Tuan Tuan was presented as a goodwill gift to Taiwan in 2008. One month ago she gave birth to a female cub at Taipei zoo. But the cub was removed from her mother after birth because zookeepers feared Yuan Yuan might harm her.

To the relief of the zoo staff, however, Yuan Yuan displayed all the normal and natural motherly instincts. Despite the natural reactions observed, zookeepers have decided to keep the cub in special care, allowing mother and cub to meet regularly.
