Recording artist Aloe Blacc and U.S. "X-Factor" finalist David Correy have teamed up to provide the theme song for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The football event takes place in Brazil in June this year.

In preparation for the games, Blacc and Correy performed the song at a special event in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The song has been touring the globe as part of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, and local artists have been adding vocals to their versions of the song, giving it a truly global touch.

There are now 24 different versions of the song.

"The inspiration for 'Lift Your Spirit' is really just to make people happy," Blacc said. "I want to make people feel joy and to spread that joy around the world... If I can do that and make you smile, give you comfort, that's my job and that's what I want to do. So I put as much energy into creating songs that make people happy on this album."

"The World is Ours" is a combination of two songs - an original recording from Blacc, combined with lyrics from the original version by David Correy and Monobloco.

"Aloe brought something incredible to this version. He brought more depth, a different perspective on soul, because we all have our own soul. And it's how we bring it out," Correy said. "You can close your eyes and envision that song being sung around the world."

For Blacc, who grew up playing soccer, the opportunity is "a dream come true."

"I grew up loving soccer. My parents are from Panama and if you're from any Latin country, soccer's almost religion," he said.

But helping to pen the World Cup anthem isn't all that Blacc's been up to. The American singer has also been busy promoting his new album, "Lift Your Spirit," and will be touring with Bruno Mars this summer from May to July.
