Malaysia's cabinet has approved an independent international team to investigate the disappearance of the missing jetliner. At a press conference on Wednesday, the country's acting Transport Minister briefed the media on the latest investigation efforts.

The Malaysian minister added that the government has had talks with Malaysian state oil firm Petronas and other unidentified entities to expand the deep-sea search for the plane in the southern Indian Ocean. Concerning the underwater search conducted by Bluefin-21, he said the submersible robot is currently completing its tenth underwater mission. It has now completed more than 80 percent of the focused underwater search, but has found nothing so far.

The air search was called back on Wednesday due to bad weather, while 12 ships scoured the target area for traces of the plane.
