As the pace of modern life picks up in China, fast food is becoming big business, and it could get even bigger.

China accounts for more than half of all revenue at Yum Brands, which owns KFC and Pizza Hut. Yum is the largest western restaurant operator in China with over 6,000 outlets. McDonald's trails in second place, with about 2,000 restaurants nationwide, but has plans to open 300 more this year.

These rapidly expanding fast food chains provide openings for foreign food processing companies -- like OSI -- to move into China. The US-based parent company of Shanghai Husi Food Company now processes 300 million chickens a year in China, about 3 percent of the country's total.
