Meanwhile in Taiwan, Taipei's Palace Museum has opened an exhibition featuring the most valuable treasures of the royal court. The exhibition has over 3,000 articles on display, and offers a glimpse into how royal life used to be in the forbidden city.

Items for sacrificial rituals, some for daily use, some as diplomatic presents, some as room decorations. The exhibition gives a panoroma of the luxurious life in the royal court.
One of the major treasures on display is this ivory ball. Nine dragons are carved on the surface, as there are 24 layers, each able to turn separately.
"On one hand, the materials in the exhibits are all very valuable. On the other, they are all designed by masterminds and created by the most skilled hands," said Hou Yili, staff from Taipei Palace Museum.
One example of that craftsmanship is this coral, which has a history of 500 years.
The mandala was a gift from Tibet to Emperor Shunzhi. The precious stones all over it symbolize the treasures of the universe, and it just one of the many wonders to be seen at this months-long exhibition.
