German luxury carmaker Audi is facing a record fine in China for over charging Chinese car buyers. According to the Price Bureau of China's Hubei province, Audi needs to pay nearly 250 million yuan fine, or about 40 million US dollars.

Eight distributors in Hubei also face fines, totalling 30 million yuan, or about 5 million US dollars. Meanwhile, US carmaker Chrysler is facing a fine of 32 mln yuan. Three of its distributors will pay fines for its monopolistic practices in Shanghai.

Earlier in August, China's pricing regulator, the National Development and Reform Commission, launched a wide-spread probe into foreign auto-makers accused of over-pricing their vehicles. Several car-makers including Audi and Chrysler have lowered prices for cars and spare parts.

Meanwhile, the anti-monopoly probe into Qualcomm, the world's biggest cellphone chip maker has finished, and will enter the stage of punishement for its over charging patent fees.
